About Luka
Luka den Boer is a passionate young baritone from The Hague, the Netherlands.
Starting in September, he will continue his artistic career at the HKB - Opernstudio in Biel/Bern, where he will further develop his skills in the field of opera and his work as a performing singer.
Luka is a positive and versatile singer with a deep love for singing and a broad affinity for opera, art song, and oratorio.
He appeared in Opera Compact’s production of The Fairy Queen, directed by Sybrand van der Werf, and performed the role of Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro at Codarts Rotterdam.
In addition, he will appear as Prince Saltikov in the new opera production Kolja this September.
In addition to opera, Luka has a great passion for the art song repertoire. For example, he performed at the Zeist Song Festival during the 2024 season as part of the LiedLab program Schweig Einmal Still!.
His concert repertoire includes:
Requiem – Mozart | Coronation Mass – Mozart | Requiem – Fauré |
St. John Passion – Bach | St. Matthew Passion – Bach |
A German Requiem – Brahms | Messa di Gloria – Puccini |
Petite messe solennelle – Rossini | Messiah – Handel | The Seasons – Haydn
Luka studied classical voice at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam under baritone Henk Neven. During his studies, he participated in masterclasses led by, among others: Eva Maria Westbroek, Frank van Aken, Roderick Williams, Richard Egarr, Charlotte Riedijk, Marcel Reijans, Paul McNamara, and Margreet Honig.
His fascination with music began at a young age. At the age of six, he began taking accordion lessons, and his love for classical singing grew through singing at school.
In preparation for his conservatory studies, he took classical singing lessons with soprano Marjan Kuiper. Prior to majoring in voice at Codarts, he studied in the Music Education program in Leiden and received singing lessons from tenor Bart Verhage.
With a deep love for art song, oratorio, and opera, Luka approaches the solo repertoire with versatility and curiosity. For him, music, text, and performance are powerful tools for creating connection. Music as an art form represents communication, inspiration, and joy - something he strives to convey on stage with conviction and dedication.
